Protecting Your Online Privacy  25.08.2010

The Telegraph online newspaper has published an article describing ten ways to protect your online privacy . Sense or nonsense?

Having read the article, starting off with apparently daft methods followed by sensible ones, it is interesting to think that the author, Andy Bloxham uses the entertaining daft methods (employing Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) consultants to protect your name!?!)to get his reader's attention long enough to interest them in reading about the sensible ones (for example using strong passwords and not using your real name or the names of family for online accounts (essential with Facebook and scores of other online social sites).

Using SEO to protect your name seems a bit drastic to me, but, then, lots of things that I thought were drastic or unnecessary a year ago have become desirable or even essential now.

What do you think? Comments on a post card from your holiday location - or, even better, using the comment form!
