Maps by Ordnance Survery Made Free  20.04.2010

Ordnance Survey has made many of their online maps available to the public - for free!

ZDNet UK reported "The move represents a dramatic shift from the OS' previous business model, under which mapping data had to be paid for and was covered by restrictive licensing terms. The terms for the data released on Thursday require only that the maps be accompanied by an acknowledgement of origin."

This dramatic change of policy must be good news to anyone who uses maps, especially country-side walkers.

The free maps are available on Ordnance Survey's OpenData page.
